Lisa Fox Jackson of Iowa majored in Visual Arts and Education at Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado. She loves to paint and teaches adult painting classes at the Art Center of Estes Park three nights a week. And during the day she teaches third grade at Estes Park Elementary School.
She is also an enthusiastic photographer. "Most of my photographs are portraits and nature photography," she says. "I think my daughter Anissa may be the world's most-photographed child. And Rocky Mountain National Park is practically in my back yard, so I go out there a lot to shoot."
Lisa Fox Jackson of Iowa says that there are many things that draw her to photography. "It is just seriously awesome," she says, by way of summary. "The obvious thing about it is that you can capture an image, or memory, that you'll have forever. I guess I'm like most parents in that, because of all the pictures I've got of my precious Anissa." She says that another thing about photography that she likes a lot is that it has changed her perceptions. "I think I notice details now more than I used to. I mean, I've always been visually oriented and I've always noticed details through my painting. But it's different with photography. You notice the light, the colors, the textures. And if you're shooting an event, you notice that there are always people moving in and out of the frame, so you better be quick when you see the shot through the lens, because if you aren't someone may walk into the shot and ruin it!"
